YMCA OSHC would like to show their appreciation to the Queensland Government Gambling Community Benefit Fund for granting funding applications for five YMCA OSHC services.  YMCA Aspley East were awarded $12,000 to install air conditioning, YMCA Albany Creek were awarded $10,000 to purchase equipment and furniture, YMCA Rochedale South were awarded $18,000 to install air conditioning, YMCA Camira were awarded $8,000 to update their floor coverings and install air conditioning and YMCA The Gap were awarded $6,000 to purchase equipment and furniture. Thank you to the Queensland Government Gambling Community Benefit Fund.

Scales, jaws and claws at Strathpine

Children attending YMCA Strathpine OSHC extremley enjoyed a visit by Justin from Scales, Jaws and Claws during Summer Holiday Club.  Justin did a wonderful job chatting with and presenting to the children and allowed LOTS of hands–on experience with all his pets.  We would like to apologise though to any parents who have been asked for a pet snake!

Aussie, Aussie, Aussie at Springfield Lakes

YMCA Springfield Lakes OSHC celebrated Australia Day with true Aussie spirit.  Everyone painted their faces like Australian flags and for afternoon tea enjoyed a sausage sizzle, meat pies, sausage rolls and of course tomato sauce.  The children made Australian flags and Damper.  Aussie, Aussie, Aussie!

New paint for Strathpine

Thanks to Strathpine State School, Q-build and service staff – YMCA Strathpine OSHC is now newly painted and looking like a stand-out!  The children enjoyed a week in the hall, while the coat of paint went on inside and out.  Staff spent another week getting the service back to normal but it was all worth it because we love our new look!

Dramas at Albany Creek

YMCA Albany Creek OSHC enjoyed a dramatic visitor over the holidays.  Kelly from Drama Dragons visited and had all the children up dancing and playing the blanket game as well as many other things.  Lucky the service is air conditioned because it was so hot outside that the activities had to take place inside.
