The army comes to Grovely

YMCA Grovely OSHC are building a community wall.  Parents/Guardians have been invited to visit the service and talk to the children about their jobs.  The children were lucky enough to have a visit from Sgt Sonya Francis from the army.  Sgt Francis brought in her bed and her kitchen for when she is camping, her special medals and some souvenirs and post cards from her overseas trips.  The children even got to try and carry her massive bag that she has to carry it all in, it was bigger than some of the preps!  The staff and chidlren agree that the best part was when Sgt Francis dressed Alissa (staff member) up in the army uniform and the children all got to put army paint on her face.  Sgt Francis' visit demonstrated how

Move over Michelangelo

YMCA Springfield Lakes OSHC would like to share Adarsh's amazing creative talent.  Adarsh is five years of age and attends Prep.  Adarsh moved from India to Australia with his family 12 months ago and loves to draw pictures of animals.  He uses realistic colours for all his pictures.  As well as being incredibily talented Adarsh has a fascinating way of drawing/colouring by working his way from one end to the other until the animal is complete.  He does not use any visual reminders as he is drawing it is all from his imagination.  And if that's not enough Adarsh also loves free-cutting.  He can cut out amazing animals such as an elephant complete with 4 legs, trunk, tusks, body, ears and tail without any picture pre-drawn to cut around.  We are all looking forward to watching his creative mind grow and develop.  We're very proud of you Adarsh and are sure we'll see your works of art hanging in galleries sooner rather than later!
