Guess Who at Strathpine

questionThe children attending YMCA Strathpine OSHC wanted to play Guess Who but as all the cards were missing the staff thought 'We can take a photo of each staff person, print them and use them as cards'.  Over hearing this, a child suggested, 'How cool would it be if it was our faces?'.  The children attending that day agreed. Staff have taken now taken 24 photos adorned them with beards and glasses, printed on photo sticker paper and attached to the game boards.  A very unique and personal board game just for YMCA Strathpine OSHC.  Great idea staff and children!

Strathpines Art Adventures

crayonsDuring the school holidays YMCA Strathpine OSHC was extremley busy.  One of their very favourite memories was from the Art Exhibition day.  The children discovered with their sense of touch and without their eyes.  They had to draw anything they could without being able to see.  The experience was new and the results were amazing.  The staff do suspect that there was some peeking!  Staff also got involved to see how well they could draw without ‘seeing’ in front of them.

Reconciliation Week at Enoggera

YMCA Enoggera OSHC has been working on a National Reconciliation Week display to show you all. National Reconciliation Week is celebrated from 27th May – 3rd June and commemorates the rich history and culture of the first Australians. Our children have been learning about the meaning behind this week and have had fun making boomerangs and doing dot paintings. They are so proud of their art works. Well Done!

Tennis star at St Paul's

YMCA St Paul’s OSHC have found their own tennis star, introducing Gauhar Bhardwaj.  Gauhar is a Year One student who absolutely loves tennis, you could say she is tennis crazy!  Each afternoon without fail, Gauhar can be found outside with a tennis racquet in one hand and tennis ball in the other.  Gauhar has come a long way from not being able to hit a tennis ball to now being able to play a proper game of tennis with her peers.  She has even been known to challenge the staff.  With Gauhar’s sheer determination, dedication and motivation to keep practicing there is no doubt in the future we will see her in the Australian Open!  Well done Gauhar, we're so proud of you!

Grovely's Photo Competition

YMCA Grovely OSHC are having another photo competition after the massive success of their competition last year.  The theme this time is ‘Our environment at Grovely’ and the children have been busy taking photos of the grounds and buildings within the school.  There are alot of budding photographers with a lot of attention to detail.  Two of the photographs submitted so far are included below.
